Elise Maes, some call her Lies or Liz.
Her passion for ceramics began in her youth - a love story with clay that keeps returning. Inspired by design and architecture, she creates refined objects with pure lines and timeless simplicity. Each piece is handmade with patience and love, to be enjoyed and shared.
Elise’s work emerges from a quiet dialogue between form, proportion, and presence. Guided by an instinct for harmony, she observes how shapes relate, how surfaces hold light, and how contrasts reveal character. Her objects arise where form and feeling meet — shaped with intention, refined through intuition, and carrying a subtle tension between what is defined and what is allowed to unfold.
Elise lives and works in Belgium, near Ghent, where she creates her pieces on the wheel and with molds derived from her thrown forms. She also spends considerable time in Provence, where she finds the light, colors, and serenity truly inspiring.
