Elise Maes, some call her Lies or Liz.
Her passion for ceramics began in her youth - a love story with clay that keeps returning. Inspired by design and architecture, she creates refined objects with pure lines and timeless simplicity. Each piece is handmade with patience and love, to be enjoyed and shared.
Elises work is guided by a continuous search for balance — in the visual play of form and proportion, in the dialogue between pieces, and in the tension between strength and fragility. It is a practice of intuition and intention, where perfection meets imperfection, and simplicity becomes timeless presence.
Elise lives and works in Belgium, near Ghent, where she creates her pieces on the wheel and with molds derived from her thrown forms. She also spends considerable time in Provence, where she finds the light, colors, and serenity truly inspiring.
